IHC judge likely to resign too


A prominent lawyer said there is a tradition in the Supreme Court that no judge bothers the chief justice.

ISLAMABAD:

Following the resignation of two Supreme Court judges, a High Court judge is also considering tendering his resignation from office. Sources revealed to The Express PAkGazette that a judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) may also tender his resignation soon.

On the other hand, no more resignations from the Supreme Court are expected.

It is learned that a farewell dinner was organized in honor of Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan at the Chief Justice’s house, where other judges of the high court were also invited. A senior lawyer said there is a tradition in the Supreme Court that no judge bothers the chief justice.

Meanwhile, it is learned that the fixed branch of the Supreme Court has sought guidelines from the Supreme Court regarding fixing of cases after the passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

The branch has issued a note to the SC Registrar and Additional Judicial Registrar, stating that it has become essential for this institution to obtain clear and authoritative guidance regarding allocation and processing of cases between the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) and the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC).
