Penn Badgley is opening up about how his wife’s miscarriages affected their marriage.
In a recent talk at the Fully booked podcast, to promote his new book, crushThe 39-year-old actor revealed that his wife, Domino Kirke’s two consecutive miscarriages almost broke up their marriage.
“That kind of loss is very common and we should do it; I don’t know if we just need to talk about it. We should at least start talking about it more.
“And of course, just to be clear, I’m talking about miscarriages,” she explained.
Penn added: “They happen all the time and they can be very, very painful. Well, I would say they are universally painful. Maybe not everyone is allowed to feel that way.”
In his book, Penn spoke of a “terrible memory” of that painful period.
“This was our second loss together. A time when it didn’t seem like the cycle would be broken. My wife and I were on the verge of separating as many do after losses like that,” he wrote, via People.
“Largely because we feel so isolated in a culture that doesn’t talk much about these things or know how to support those going through them. Seeing our baby still in those black and white sonography images is a terrible memory that I can’t get rid of every time we go for an ultrasound.”
