NFL News: Jerry Jones touts Cowboys wide receiver after win

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens left his boss impressed with his performance Monday night in a 33-16 win against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Pickens, despite being benched with CeeDee Lamb for the opening drive, had nine receptions for 144 yards and a 37-yard touchdown catch from Dak Prescott.

Jones touted Pickens when speaking to reporters.

“Pickens was… I’d never seen a performance like that. It was poetic the way he did those movements. It was like he was in an opera or something. A ballet,” Jones said, via Pro Football Talk.

Dallas acquired Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason and he has proven to be a huge asset to the offense so far. He has 58 receptions for 908 yards and a career-high seven touchdown receptions.

The Cowboys moved to 4-5-1 on the season. Jones was asked if they were gaining momentum heading into the playoffs.

“If you look at these numbers, they are discouraging as we look toward the playoffs.” [run,] but we don’t want to look beyond this weekend with Philadelphia. …,” Jones said, via the team’s website. “The bottom line is that I’m excited to play Philadelphia, and it will be a good outlet for the makeup of our team right now. “I’m looking forward to watching the game.”

The Cowboys are second in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles. The team is currently in 10th place in the playoff standings.
