Jeremy Allen White shared a rare insight into how he feels about his own name, which he didn’t choose for himself.
In a recent talk with vanity fairThe 34-year-old actor revealed that his professional name, including his first name, middle name and last name, is not how he understands himself.
Although “Jeremy Allen White” is his full legal name, he told the outlet, “I don’t understand myself like that.”
And when someone calls him by his full name, he noted, “It feels like people are talking about someone I don’t know.”
The actor was raised with his name “Jeremy White”, but professionally he also added his middle name due to the Screen Actors Guild, since when he joined the industry, the name “Jeremy White” was already in use.
White also told the outlet that he “would be very interested” in meeting SAG-registered Jeremy White.
“I could talk to him and maybe see if he could afford to get Jeremy White back,” the actor explained.

“I think I’ll always feel lucky that I was able to work for a long time in my teens and 20s without having the burden of being a very public person,” he said, pointing to his comedy-drama series, Shameless.
“The Bear has taken me to a different level, but I’m lucky that it’s when I’m in my early 30s that I think I feel a little more settled with myself,” he added. “And I don’t feel like I have to adopt serious or problematic attitudes.”
