LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has constituted a three-member bench to hear petitions challenging the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum constituted the court and appointed Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan as its president, while Justice Jawad Hassan and Justice Sultan Tanvir will serve as its members.
The requests have been made by the prime minister and the president of the National Assembly through their respective secretaries. According to the reasons, the amendment strips the Supreme Court of its original jurisdiction and turns it into a de facto Federal Constitutional Court.
