ChatGPT is back online

It appears that CloudFlare has fixed the issue affecting OpenAI products and ChatGPT and Sora are back online.

The problems may persist, but update your app or web browser and see if you can now access ChatGPT again.

ChatGPT down for more than an hour

I’ve been trying to access ChatGPT for over an hour and the world’s most popular chatbot is still not working due to Cloudflare server issues.

Does anyone have access to ChatGPT? If so, please contact us with information on how you access it and what subscription level you are using.

OpenAI reposted its previous statement as a new update on its official status page at 9:08 a.m. ET, again noting: “We have confirmed that the incident is caused by an issue with one of our third-party service providers. We will provide updates as they become available.”

Simply put, OpenAI is in a holding pattern until the Cloudflare issue is resolved.

We also received an official statement from Cloudflare, along with updates posted on the company’s status page.

“We saw an unusual increase in traffic to one of Cloudflare’s services starting at 11:20 UTC. That caused some traffic passing through Cloudflare’s network to experience errors. We still don’t know the cause of the unusual traffic increase. It’s all hands on deck to make sure all traffic is handled without error. After that, we will turn our attention to investigating the cause of the unusual increase in traffic. We will post updates on cloudflarestatus.com and a deeper analysis when you are ready to blog.cloudflare.com“.

Downstream Detector Outage Reports

While it’s not specifically about ChatGPT, the image above shows the Cloudflare outage and how big it really is.

According to Downdetector, websites like ChatGPT, IKEA, Spotify, and even games like League of Legends are experiencing issues due to the reported Cloudflare outage.

When I try to sign in to ChatGPT on the web or in the app, I get the message “Unblock challenges.cloudflare.com to continue.”

Sora too

OpenAI’s Sora video generation software is also down for millions of users. TechRadar’s Lance Ulanoff encountered the same image I shared in the previous post when trying to log into the service.

So what exactly is Cloudflare? And why are there multiple outages on the Internet, not just ChatGPT?

Well, the American company offers cybersecurity, among other services, to some of the most popular websites in the world.

Not only is ChatGPT affected, but we are seeing issues with X.com as well as many other popular websites.

OpenAI services are down

ChatGPT, Sora, and other OpenAI products are experiencing issues that appear to be related to the Cloudflare discontinuation.

According to OpenAI’s service page, the company is aware of the issues and will keep users updated. “We have confirmed that the incident is due to an issue with one of our third-party service providers. We will provide updates as they become available.”

Unfortunately, as this issue is not caused by OpenAI’s servers, we will have to wait for Cloudflare to fix things as soon as possible.
