- iPhone users running iOS 26 say the keyboard has become unreliable
- A viral Reddit thread shows widespread frustration, from slow typing to design changes that break muscle memory.
- Users are asking for a specific fix in the next iOS update.
Have you had problems with autocorrect since updating your iPhone to iOS 26? You are not alone and it is a serious problem affecting Apple users around the world.
Typing on an iPhone should be easy, but right now it really isn’t, and users have been flooding social media with their annoyances. Since the release of iOS 26, more and more users are reporting that the keyboard feels unreliable, slow, and overly eager to change perfectly normal words to something completely wrong.
A Reddit thread titled “It’s not just you, the iOS keyboard is broken” has been filled with complaints and currently has over 600 comments from users who are fed up with the iOS 26 keyboard.
People aren’t just mentioning some autocorrect bug either, they’re talking about a keyboard that feels unpredictable on a daily basis, and considering that’s the primary way to interact with the best iPhones, it’s a serious issue that needs to be resolved quickly.
The most common problem seems to be that autocorrect rewrites correctly spelled words without meaning. One user said he originally blamed himself because the letters changed randomly after he finished typing. Another said the keyboard used to be great and slowly got worse with each update.
Many comments mention the same pattern: you type a sentence, it looks good, you tap send, and suddenly a couple of words transform into something you would never type.
There are also reports of missed taps, delays between pressing a key and seeing it appear, and the space bar turning on punctuation when you never asked for it.
Apple, please fix the iPhone keyboard
While the issues affect all of iOS, Safari appears to be causing additional headaches. The keyboard layout in the search bar has changed for some users, which has completely disrupted muscle memory.
While it may seem insignificant, when something as basic as a key location changes without warning, it increases the feeling that the keyboard is falling apart rather than improving, ultimately leading to complaints.
iOS 26.2 beta 3 was recently released, but there is no sign of a dedicated fix for the autocorrect issues. One user said: “The keyboard was really great in my opinion…then it slowly got worse and worse. Now it’s terrible.”
Another added: “The next software update should 100% focus on fixing the keyboard.”
We’ll have to wait and see how long it takes for Apple to react, but this iOS 26 issue is something that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later as it is hindering the iPhone experience as a whole.
