- Model numbers of six upcoming Samsung phones have been leaked
- They are believed to belong to the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z models.
- Thanks to previous rumors and the past, we have a good idea of when these phones will be released.
With the year 2025 almost coming to an end, we’re now looking ahead to the selection of 2026 smartphones, and while none of that is confirmed yet, we have an idea of what to expect. In the case of Samsung, we now have an even clearer idea, as the model numbers of many of its 2026 phones have just been leaked.
Android Authority has dug up these model numbers, and while it doesn’t specify exactly where it found them, they were likely spotted in the code for Samsung’s One UI software, as the company previously found a listing of 2025 models in that code.
In any case, the model numbers do not contain too many surprises, but they do have at least one interesting element, which we will see below. And at least they make us more sure what high-end Samsung phones we’ll see next year. Below we’ve detailed the models we look like we’ll be getting, divided by what date of year they’re likely to launch.
Early 2026
Firstly, in early 2026 we expect Samsung to launch a trio of Galaxy S phones, and in fact, model numbers have been found for exactly that.
Android Authority claims to have found model numbers SM-S942, SM-S947, and SM-S948, which likely belong to the Samsung Galaxy S26, Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus (or possibly Edge), and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, respectively.
For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S25 has the model number SM-S931, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus is SM-S936, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is SM-S937, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has the model number SM-S938.
So with these new model numbers following the same format, just with a number increase of 10 or 11, they are presumably the successors.
These model numbers don’t tell us when these phones will launch, but based on their previous form, we’d expect them in January or February, and the latest leak backs that up, suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series could be announced in late January and ship in mid-February.
That said, a previous leak suggested that these phones had been delayed as Samsung reportedly replaced the Galaxy S26 Edge with a Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus. However, even this leak suggests that we will see the phones in March, so we shouldn’t expect too much even if this leak is accurate.
Meanwhile, a third leak splits the difference and suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will land on February 25. So for now we’re sure the phones will launch between January and March, but we’re guessing January or February is most likely.
July 2026
Android Authority also found three other model numbers, specifically SM-F971, SM-F776, and SM-F976. These are believed to be the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 respectively.
For reference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE has the model number SM-F761, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is SM-F766, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is SM-F966, so these new model numbers follow the same format.
In the case of the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 there is also an increase of 10 in numbering, but interestingly the phone believed to be the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE has a number 210 higher than its predecessor.
It’s possible then that this is actually a different phone or that Samsung sees it as a big improvement over the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. But it is equally possible that there is nothing really significant about the much larger number here. So we won’t give it much importance for now.
In any case, based on their previous form, all of these upcoming foldable phones are likely to launch in July. That being said, there are no leaks yet on the release date of these phones, so there’s always a chance Samsung could deviate this month.
