After last week’s bumper crop of new movies and TV shows, this week’s selection is comparatively smaller.
In fact, by my calculations, there are only 12 must-see movies and TV series that recently debuted on the world’s best streaming services, so deciding what to include on this weekend’s list of streaming recommendations has been a lot easier. Here, then, are our top picks from this week’s deals. Enjoy! – Tom Power, Senior Entertainment Reporter

The Mighty Nein season 1 (Prime Video)
Look
It’s time to return to Exandria, but not to reunite with the misfits who star The legend of Vox Machina. Instead, it’s time to The mighty Neinalso known as the second Dungeons and Dragons (DND) campaign from the popular tabletop role-playing group Critical Role, to get attention.
Set 20 years after the events of Vox Machine (FYI, its fourth season arrives in early 2026), Amazon’s latest adult animated series will, like its predecessor, adapt rather than recreate the plot of Critical Role’s sophomore year. DND Campaign.
Following a new group of outcasts and nonconformists, The mighty Nein explores a new corner of Exandria and will aim to captivate Prime Video users with its unique combination of high fantasy, gruesome action, crude humor and trauma-based storytelling. One that fans of Vox Machine, Invincibleand Hazbin Hotel will be licked. – T.P.
Dream Train (Netflix)
Look
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: dream train It’s my favorite Netflix movie of 2025.
Not only did I have no expectations before watching it, but I never would have imagined that the fictional life of lumberjack Robert Grainier (Joel Edgerton) would have such a profound impact.
Working on rural railroads in the early 20th century, Robert’s life is a cautionary tale about love, loss, and learning to live again. In shorter moments, dream train It challenges the sociopolitical landscape of the time, and is something that weighs heavily on Robert as he grows up.
What is most surprising is how it subtly reframes traditional masculinity. Robert should be the better man, and his appearance and his job superficially define him that way. But when you see his vulnerability, emotion, and open heart around his wife and daughter, everything changes. Read more in my dream train review. – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter
The Roses (Hulu)
Look
Cinematic excellence looks like Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch hurling insults, food, and furniture… or at least it does in my world. the roseswhich is available now on Hulu (NB: it’s coming out on Disney+ outside the US in early December) brilliantly scratched my nonsense itch upon its initial theatrical release, and I can’t wait to return for a second helping.
From Ivy’s (Colman) seafood restaurant called ‘We’ve Got Crabs!’ For Theo’s (Cumberbatch) chaotic illustration of what it means to be a stay-at-home dad, the humorous details are perfectly subtle. But that doesn’t mean it’s all a pantomime: At its core, there are some universally serious problems in your marriage that are being faced head-on.
At the very least, he’s incredibly relatable, even if the movie tries and fails to pass off Devon in the UK as California. But hey, believing in something that doesn’t exist is what the magic of cinema is all about. – joint venture
After the hunt (main video)
Look
On paper, this new psychological thriller has all the characteristics of a sure hit. With award-winning director Luca Guadagnino at the helm and a top-notch cast including Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield, that’s enough to convince a wide audience to check out one of Prime Video’s latest new movies.
At its core, the film tackles a dark but compelling story about a student’s sexual assault accusation against a professor, exploring themes of consent and cancel culture. Despite its potential, after the hunt failed with audiences, and many critics took issue with its multi-perspective narrative.
From what I can gather, it attempts to explore themes of guilt and innocence using conflicting points of view to shed light on the complexities of such a heavy topic. But for some, his approach dilutes his message. – Amelia Schwanke, Senior Entertainment Editor
The Family Plan 2 (Apple TV)
Look
Grab a mince pie and fire up that shiny new Apple TV subscription (especially if you scored the cheap Prime Video add-on in the Black Friday streaming deals). It’s time to get into the holiday spirit, because this new action movie is sliding down the streaming chimney and promises even more silly fun than its predecessor.
The family plan 2 sees Mark Wahlberg reprise his role as Dan, a spy turned father who simply can’t shake his murderous past. Now that the whole family knows about his violent history, it seems like a vacation to Europe should be a bed of roses… until, of course, it’s not. Enter a new threat, a mystery client played by Kit Harington, who shakes up Dan’s world as he tries to enjoy a festive London and Paris.
Expect silly action and mindless fun; basically everything you want in a holiday action comedy that entertains the whole family on Apple’s streamer this weekend. – AS
A Man Inside Season 2 (Netflix)
Look
I had a great time with season 1 of A man insideso I’m really excited to dive into season 2. And if you had any concerns, it wouldn’t be as good as the first. A man inside Season 2 already has a brilliant 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is clear that he has done something right!
