The attack took place in the Saddar area of ​​the northwestern city and involved three militants, according to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police. “All three militants were killed during the response operation,” KP Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed said, adding that two of them were suicide bombers.

The dead and injured included both federal police personnel and civilians, according to Mohammad Asim, a spokesman for Lady Reading Hospital. Hospital officials said the injured were in stable condition.

Peshawar police chief Mian Saeed Ahmed led the security response. Authorities cordoned off the area and suspended public traffic along the main corridor near the explosion site as a precaution. Police sealed entry and exit points of the city and put Peshawar on high alert. A clean-up operation is underway, after which the roads are expected to reopen.
