Earlier, Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi chaired a key meeting in which the performance of railway police was discussed. During the session it was revealed that, following the minister’s instructions, the banknote control campaign has become more effective.
Abbasi warned that both passengers traveling without a ticket and those facilitating such travel would face legal action. “Those who travel without a ticket will face prison sentences,” he said, urging that strict measures against ticketless travel continue.
The meeting also discussed the efforts of the railway police to combat theft, smuggling and other crimes, highlighting the implementation of the anti-intrusion policy. Abbasi’s directives to remove encroachments on decades-old railway land are ongoing, with the railway police ensuring that every inch of railway land is reclaimed.
In June, Pakistan Railways announced that its luxury carriages, previously reserved for senior government officials, would now be available for booking by the general public.
According Express NewsThe decision was taken on the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The initiative was aimed at extending premium travel facilities to common citizens and optimizing the use of existing railway resources.
Five luxury lounges, which had been used by the Prime Minister, federal ministers, Pakistan Railways Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Inspector General of Railways, were now accessible to any passenger who wished to book them.
