LAHORE:
Another petition reached the Lahore High Court, challenging the 27th Constitutional Amendment, adding to the growing legal opposition to the controversial amendment.
Citizen Asbah Kamran filed the constitutional petition, naming the President of Pakistan, Parliament and Senate as respondents through their respective secretaries.
In the petition, the petitioner argued that the 27th Amendment is incompatible with the fundamental principles of Islam. It maintains that once the Constitution is in force, neither Parliament nor the Senate can legislate contrary to Islamic principles.
