James McAvoy found an iconic connection with his X-Men co-stars: Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, while rehearsing for the film.
The 46-year-old actor shared that the three had performed Shakespeare’s play. macbeth on stage, and ended up becoming a pillar of their bond.

McAvoy went on to share that McKellen called him to ask him about his recent stint on Macbeth and asked him to “do a little bit” together, since Stewart had done it too.
He Split The actor recalled that he had finished Macbeth two weeks ago and “couldn’t remember a single line” while Stewart and the the lord of the rings star were ‘like hitting back and forth [their] favorite fragments of Macbeth.
The moment deeply inspired McAvoy, who thought, “He’s just a different kind of actor, a different kind of machine.”

Joking about his most meaningful moments with fans at Comic Con, McAvoy joked, “When they tell me I was better than Patrick, that means a lot. It really resonates with me.”
