He joked about the effort it took to get to a point where he could walk past the movie playing at home without criticizing every scene.
“Do you understand the work I’ve had to do to get to the place where I can just walk through that screen and not say, ‘Well, we could have done that?’ [done that differently]?’”
Although many fans see Green Lantern As one of his most criticized films, Reynolds has come to see it from a different perspective.
The moment gives him a chance to reflect on his own career and growth. He described that period of his life as a time when he constantly said, “Yes, sir. No, sir. How high can I jump, sir?”
Reynolds and Lively share daughters James, Inez and Betty in addition to Olin.
For him deadpool star, it’s important to show your children the less glamorous side of success.
“My kids, everything they see is a winner,” he said, noting how fans often react when they encounter him in public. “When I go out, they pat me on the back and it’s a parade of selfies, and I please everyone.”
But you want your kids to understand the big picture, including the mistakes.
“My children only see that,” he explained. “So lately I’ve learned to make sure [I am] talking about failures and how that is literally the basis and ingredient of everything else.”
For Reynolds, what once seemed like a setback has become an opportunity to teach his children and even laugh at his own journey, as his little one continues to repeat one of his biggest box office disappointments.
