CES 2025 is expected to be a big one for computing technology, with next-gen chips from major brands like Nvidia, Intel, and AMD set to usher in next-gen performance, and one of the many brands taking advantage of those upgrades is Asus. with its set of new gaming machines.
Although to clear things up now, no new Asus gaming handheld with new and improved specifications has been announced, and for all of the devices below we’re still waiting for accurate pricing and release dates in all regions.
Starting with the ROG Zephyrus G16, this sleek gaming hardware features up to 32GB of RAM, a 2.5K ROG OLED hazy display (with a maximum refresh rate of 250Hz and brightness up to 500 nits), and even a GPU. Nvidia RTX 5090 in a package that’s just 1.49cm thick and weighs 1.85kg, ideal for a gaming laptop you want to carry around with you while you travel.
Next up are the Strix G16 and G18 laptops that come with an Intel CPU and 16- or 18-inch displays. It will include up to an RTX 5080 (a slightly less powerful Nvidia GPU compared to the Zephyrus), but will still feature up to 32GB of 5600MHz DDR5 RAM, 2TB Gen 4.0 SSD, and a 2.5″ 240Hz display. K.
If you care about style and substance, you might appreciate the Strix Scar 16 and 18, again, separated by their screen size. The pair features next-gen Intel and Nvidia parts (up to an Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5090 processor), with up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM and 2TB of SSD storage along with a 2.5K Mini-LED display, with a 3 ms delay and 240 Hz. refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. On the lid you’ll see the AniMe vision decoration, previously called AniMe Matrix sync, which features a variety of customizable LEDs so you can create custom images and animations while you play.
Not all of them are just portable
As we enter the back half of Asus’ announcements, things start to get a little different.
The ROG Flow Z13 2025 is a super light and thin hybrid gaming tablet – 12mm thick and 1.2kg thick. However, it does feature an AMD Strix Halo processor, an RGB keyboard cover, and a 180Hz touchscreen. It won’t boast the same performance as the bulkier PCs in the Asus line, but if portability is your priority, it should be. watch out, especially considering that previous ROG Flow Z13 tablets got pretty good review scores – we gave the 2022 model four stars in our review calling it “one of the best options for a gaming laptop.”
If you want to improve the performance of your Asus gaming tablet, the new ROG XG Mobile could give you a hand. This drive features an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, integrated lighting, and vapor chamber cooling, and can be used to boost the performance of your other device. Previous models received mixed reviews, but as with all devices, we’ll have to try Asus’ new gaming tech for ourselves to understand its performance capabilities.
On the back is the only non-laptop in Asus’ CES 2025 lineup: the ROG G700. This classic desktop tower features a quad-fan system, up to the latest Intel Ultra 9 processor and the latest Nvidia GPUs, with a transparent case that allows tool-free access to standard-sized components so you can swap in new parts more easily. when it finally starts to show its age.
