Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has been declared a fugitive by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in connection with the case regarding protests against the disqualification of former Prime Minister Imran Kha.

The case, presided over by Justice Tahir Abbas Supra, also declared former Punjab Assembly MP Umar Tanveer Butt a fugitive. Meanwhile, proceedings have been initiated to declare former PTI leader Amir Kayani a fugitive.

PTI leaders Faisal Javed and Wasik Qayyum were present at the hearing. During the session, Faisal Javed pleaded guilty to withdrawing terrorism charges from the case.

The court issued arrest warrants against the absent accused and adjourned the case until January 15, seeking arguments on the petitions filed.

The case pertains to an FIR lodged in 2022 at Islamabad’s I-9 police station, accusing PTI leaders of instigating protests in response to Imran Khan’s disqualification.

The Islamabad court on Monday ordered police to arrest Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur after he repeatedly failed to appear for hearings in a case related to possession and display of arms and liquor without license.

Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hasan presided over the hearing and expressed his displeasure over the non-compliance of court directives. The court was also informed that the investigating officer handling the case was absent during the proceedings.

The court further noted that SSP Operations had not submitted a compliance report in respect of the non-bailable arrest warrant issued earlier for Gandapur.

As a result, the hearing was adjourned to January 21, and the court reiterated its order for the law enforcement agencies to execute the arrest warrant and ensure the appearance of Ali Amin Gandapur in the next session.

The case arises from an incident that occurred on October 31, 2016 when Gandapur was booked by the Islamabad police.

Police reportedly found illegal firearms and alcohol inside Gandapur’s vehicle that was parked outside the residence of then PTI president Imran Khan after his arrival.
