Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar approached Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) top leadership and assured the government’s main coalition partner that he would rectify his reservation, just days after the PPP warned the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz ( PML-N) to confront unfulfilled promises.

According to Express News, Dar rushed to Aiwan-e-Sadr and met President Asif Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday night. Citing its sources, Express News reported that Dar assured the PPP that he would remove its reservations and the PPP promised to continue supporting the government.

Tensions between the PPP and the ruling PML-N deepened on Monday when the PPP leadership finally allowed its members to begin openly challenging the policies of the federal and Punjab governments. Party members said the recent directive by the PPP leadership sent a clear signal that the PPP would no longer remain silent.

On Sunday, PPP spokesperson Shazia Marri had issued a stern warning to the PML-N, warning that continuing to sideline the ruling coalition’s key ally on critical national issues could lead to the collapse of the PML-N-led federal government.

Following the warnings from the PPP, according to Express News, Deputy Prime Minister Dar along with Justice Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar met the PPP leaders and discussed the PPP demands. According to PPP sources, the power sharing formula in Punjab was the focus of the discussion.

Dar assured the PPP leaders that they would remove their reservations. On the Deputy Prime Minister’s assurance, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari indicated his party’s continued cooperation with the government and its full support, the Express News report added.
