- Marvel seems to have revealed something important about Avengers: Judgment Daycast list
- A recent Disney event reminded fans who is part of their massive ensemble.
- The grouping of its different actors could have revealed the teams that we will see in the MCU film.
Avengers: Judgment Day It remains shrouded in mystery ahead of its release late next year. Indeed, DoomsdayDespite the December 18, 2026 release date and 27-member cast, very little has been officially revealed about the long-awaited superhero film.
However, thanks to a recent Disney presentation that took place in Italy, we may have learned which groups our heroes will split into to take on Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. And, if this information can be taken at face value, it raises a couple of interesting questions about the Marvel movie’s plot.
Possible spoilers follow immediately for Avengers: Judgment Dayso proceed at your own risk.
As the video above shows, it looks like there will be five teams of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) heroes to follow.
There are no surprises in four of these lineups. The Fantastic Four and The New Avengers (the latter formerly known as the Thunderbolts) remain unchanged from their recent film releases. As expected, the legacy X-Men team only contains mutants, and then Shuri, M’Baku, and Namor are grouped together after the trio shared the screen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
However, the fifth group is where things get interesting, because it seems that the rest of DoomsdayThe cast will form another Avengers team led by Sam Wilson’s Captain America.
Captain America: Brave New WorldThe finale revealed that Wilson was ready to assemble Earth’s mightiest heroes, and the installation of the Thunderbolts as The New Avengers hasn’t limited Wilson’s ambition, with Good heavens‘ post-credits scene confirming that Cap 2.0 has moved forward with his plan.
According to what was shown at the Disney Italia event, he has asked favors from heroes he not only knows, but who are not currently part of a team. That includes old comrades in Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, and Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man.
Interestingly, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi is also part of this lineup, which begs the question of how he gets involved. Since Shang-Chi is based in the same city as Lang, aka San Francisco, will the latter approach the former and convince him to join Wilson’s collective?
However, the biggest thing that has piqued fans’ interest about Cap’s alleged team-up is the apparent inclusion of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. When we last saw The God of Mischief, he was holding together the seemingly infinite timelines of the multiverse to prevent their collapse. So how can you be part of a team if you’re committed to other things?
In my opinion, there are two scenarios. The first is that Loki is part of Cap’s team due to his familial association with Thor, and the latter will be tasked with defending his brother if Doom comes to kill Loki and restore the multiverse in his image. Alternatively, Doom could locate Loki first, remove the latter from his role as savior of the multiverse, and return him to Earth. From there, Loki could ally himself with Sam’s team, who could certainly use Loki’s multiversal knowledge to track down Doom.
Of course, MCU fans, myself included, might be reading too much into this latest presentation. But, with rumors circulating that DoomsdayThe first trailer could be released very soon, Disney could be preparing us for the equipment we will see as part of the inaugural Marvel Phase 6 movie trailer.
While we wait for the first official footage to drop from one of the most exciting new movies of 2026, read everything we know so far. Avengers: Judgment Day.
