Jason Kelce, retired Philadelphia Eagles star and future brother-in-law of Taylor Swift, shared details about the great loss in his life.
Jason recalled at the nonprofit’s 43rd Annual Sports Luncheon in New York City the turmoil he and his wife Kylie Kelce endured seven years ago.
The 38-year-old gave an emotional speech about the miscarriage he and Kylie had to deal with.
Accepting the March of Dimes Sports Achievement Award, Kelce recalled leaving practice in tears after learning of the loss.
During the speech, he praised his coaches, teammates and friends for supporting him.
“It’s times like that you really discover how wonderful sports are. [and] How wonderful the teams are. There are so many people who shared with me, coaches, teammates, people inside the Eagles building, friends of ours, and you really find out how prevalent this is,” he spoke to the audience.
Kelce emphasized how common miscarriages are and noted that the topic is often not talked about.
“How often do miscarriages happen? And I think it’s something that, a lot of times, is not said or talked about.”
He called the experience “absolutely devastating,” but realizing they were “not alone in this” was a huge shock for him and his partner.
