- 22 speakers and 1,800W of amplification
- Personalized audio for each individual passenger
- A complete Dolby Atmos experience inside your electric vehicle
Don’t be fooled by Denon’s slightly bland PR photos: its new car audio system is really exciting, but the best parts are invisible.
The new Denon Car Audio concept system for electric vehicles packs a whopping 22 speakers and 1,800W of amplification into your vehicle, and that’s not even the most interesting thing.
The concept also brings customization technology similar to Denon’s PerL headphone system to each passenger, adapting the audio to each person’s hearing profile. Denon is also going big, offering demos at CES and calling it “a glimpse into the future of personalized in-vehicle audio.”
If you’re not familiar with the PerL Pro headphones, they use a variety of tests to analyze your ears and optimize the audio accordingly. We’ve experienced the results (which implement exciting otoacoustic technology initially found in the NuraTrue Pro) and were very impressed, so it will be really interesting to see, or rather hear, how well the technology works to optimize the car’s interior. . audio.
Smarter sound for every electric vehicle
There are lots of great ideas here, including hidden audio exciters from Sonified. The drivers make audio tracks sound wider and livelier, and in the concept, Denon has hidden a large number of Sonified midrange driver speakers in the trim materials and headrests. Other speakers are from high-end audio designers Tymphany.
The concept also ensures that most of the audio stays in the car, which is bad news for racers and great news for everyone else. It has been designed to minimize external sound radiation and keep your neighbors pleasant.
The heart of the concept system is a 1,800W Dirac-optimized Dolby Atmos system with upward-facing speakers and channels integrated into the headrest. Despite that huge potential power, Denon promises “efficient energy use” as well as a relatively small footprint for the system.
If you’re lucky enough to be at CES, the demo car will be in the west aisle until January 11, but we expect it to go on tour once CES is over.
