So it’s official: TechRadar readers are more Android fans than iPhone users. A result that I expected above all, but not with such a difference.
In early November, I published a survey asking the big question: Are TechRadar readers iPhone or Android? After several weeks, the results are in: 62% of survey participants are part of the Android Army, while 29% are Team Apple, and 10% use both.
Now, the sheer number of options when it comes to Android phones, including picks for the best Android phones, would mean that such phones will be the most popular. Likewise, Apple has a large presence in the US, as does TechRadar, so I would have thought we’d probably see closer to 40% of readers being iPhone users.

Moving on to the comments, one of the most prominent reasons why people choose Android over iPhone comes down to the restrictive nature of Apple phones; Since we’re talking about TechRadar readers, where I’d assume a little more tech savvy than the average person, it’s no surprise that the locked nature of iPhones doesn’t appeal to some.
“I have always been [an] Android user. Apple and the iPhone are too controlling for me,” said commenter Cscar.
Commenter Godders gave this more weight: “I gave up the iPhone years ago because I hated being forced to do so. [do] things the Apple way. If I wanted to transfer a file to my PC it had to be emailed to me because iTunes made it difficult. There is no cut and paste option.”

As a big fan of the best Google Pixel phones, I can see why Godders went the Pixel route. And these would be the phones I would recommend to anyone moving from iOS to Android.
There are some commenters who noted that they use both iPhone and Android, but the evolution of Android, along with solid hardware, seems to be one of the factors driving people to choose Android phones or move on from the iPhone.
“I have both, there are elements I like better in each, but if I could choose one, it would definitely be Android. There is a lot more freedom and customization,” said commenter SErics. “Side loading capability. I just prefer the Android interface to iOS, but that’s obviously a personal preference.”
Although I am an iPhone user, because it is so simple to use and more like a tool than an intriguing device, I feel the pull of Android once again. I’d like to see what the rumored Samsung Galaxy S26 brings to the table next year and if that will be the phone that brings me back to Android.
