KARACHI:
The organizers of the Aurat March have expressed serious concerns over the rising incidents of alleged abduction of minor girls in Karachi.
Addressing a press conference at KPC, social activist Sheema Kermani demanded that the government ensure the safe return of abducted Baloch women and children, including Nasreen Baloch and Mahjabeen Baloch, and immediately release minors and differently-abled people in captivity.
A heavy police presence was seen around the Kosovo Protection Corps in anticipation of the press conference. Kermani alleged that the police tried to block the entrance to the site, using force against the activists. He also accused the police of detaining Seema Din Baloch, leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, and imposing traffic restrictions in the area.
Kermani highlighted the alarming increase in alleged forced disappearances and noted that girls as young as 14 or 15 are being kidnapped, a problem she described as getting worse by the day.
