NYT Connections Today (Game #908): The Answers
The answers to today’s Connections game #908 are…
- YELLOW: COMPLICATED COMPLEX, DELICATE, STICKY, RESISTANT
- GREEN: STATE OF AFFAIRS TREATMENT, SITUATION, STATUS, HISTORY
- BLUE: CLASSIC BOARD GAMES MASTERMIND, MOUSE TRAP, OPERATION, SORRY
- PURPLE: ____TALK BABY, PILLOW, SMALL, SWEET
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
SWEET and STICKY aside, there were no real crossovers today, although I did think the yellow group’s theme was different types of situations rather than TRICKY.
Strictly speaking, MASTERMIND is not a classic board game because it does not come with a board, although it is a member of the same pre-video game heritage.
If you’ve never played it, it’s highly recommended; It’s a color code-breaking game, and instead of a board and tokens, it comes with dozens of little black and white pins that you’ll inevitably slowly lose over time. At least that’s what happened to our set, which eventually included some homemade pegs along with the ones that came with it.
Anyway, I digress. I was also excited to have the purple group today, although I think it’s clear that I’d rather engage in classic board game chat than BABY, PILLOW, LITTLE, or SWEET chat.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Connections (Thursday, December 4, game #907)
- YELLOW: EMBRACE APPROACH, HOLD TIGHT, PET, SPOON
- GREEN: IMBIBER ENGLISH, knock down, hit, swallow
- BLUE: THINGS YOU ASSEMBLE IKEA FURNITURE, LEGO SET, MODEL, PUZZLE
- PURPLE: MUZZLE BEAK, MUZZLE, PROBOSCID, COURT
What are NYT connections?
NYT Connections is one of the increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that share something in common, and each group has a different difficulty level: green is easy, yellow is a little harder, blue is usually quite difficult, and purple is usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you don’t technically need to solve the final question since you’ll be able to answer it through a process of elimination. What’s more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little breathing room.
However, it’s a little more complicated than something like Wordle and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For example, be careful with homophones and other puns that could disguise answers.
It can be played for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile devices.
