National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday regretted allegations by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders over his involvement in negotiations between the government and the opposition.

In a statement issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, Sadiq clarified that his role in the talks is purely that of a facilitator. He emphasized that meeting PTI founder president Imran Khan is not part of his mandate or responsibility.

“I am only a facilitator in the dialogue between the government and the opposition, and I have no obligation to meet the party president,” Sadiq said.

He also expressed disappointment at claims that attempts to contact his office had been received unfavorably. “My doors have always been open to everyone and I have never turned down a meeting with any member of the National Assembly,” he said.

Addressing other concerns, he stated that if PTI leaders feel that he should withdraw from the negotiation process to maintain the neutrality of his office, he is open to considering such a proposal.

Sadiq stated that his absence from the country does not impede his ability to facilitate meetings. “I am always willing to organize meetings at the request of the government or the opposition,” he added.
