- Two new AirTag competitors have been leaked
- The devices reportedly come from Xiaomi and Motorola.
- Both should support ultra-wideband technology
The Find Hub that Google has developed to monitor its devices has gotten a lot better in recent years, and it looks like Android users will soon get a couple of new trackers to attach to belongings they don’t want to lose.
First, tipster Repeater 002 took to Chinese social media site Weibo (via Notebookcheck) to predict that we’ll soon get a Xiaomi Tag device along with a new watch and new wireless earbuds from the company.
It would be the first time Xiaomi has launched a location tracker like this, which is a surprise: the Chinese manufacturer makes almost every other type of wearable device and, of course, some of the best Android phones on the market.
We don’t get much more information here, but the tracker is expected to support superior and more accurate ultra-wideband technology, and could arrive alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra phone on Friday, December 26.
A continuation of Moto Tag
Our second tracker leak concerns a sequel to the original Moto Tag: according to the folks at Android Headlines, who managed to capture a marketing image of the Moto Tag 2, this updated device tracker is now on the way.
Like the Xiaomi equivalent, it is likely to come with UWB support, and beige and orange options will be available according to the leaked image. Greater button precision and feel are expected, as well as an IP67 waterproof rating.
The Moto Tag 2 could also coincide with the Xiaomi Tag by launching alongside a phone. That phone would be the rumored Motorola Moto G Stylus 2026, also shown on Android Headlines and expected in April, May or June of next year.
If you want to track your possessions through Google’s Find Hub, you should have some attractive new options to choose from in the coming months. Pricing is TBC, but the Moto Tag retails for around $40 / £30 / AU$55.
