Princess Charlotte received a very important letter before a special meeting.

The contents of the letter were later revealed by Charlotte’s parents, Prince William and Princess Kate. They shared an excerpt from their Instagram Stories on Tuesday, December 12 via the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official Instagram page. The sweet letter was handwritten especially for Charlotte, 10, by the same-aged daughter of Carly Barrett, who received an MBE from King Charles at Windsor Castle the day before.

“Dear Princess Charlotte,” the letter began, in excellent handwriting. “My name is Grace Barrett and I’m 10 years old, just like you!”

The letter continued: “I am writing to you because I will be visiting you in December with my mother, Carly Barrett, who will be awarded an MBE for her special work helping people affected by crime. My Nana, Alison Madgin, will also be awarded an MBE on the same day.”

Madgin founded Samantha’s Charity in 2019 in honor of his late daughter Samantha, who was stabbed to death in 2007. Together with Samantha’s sister Carly, the organization aims to raise awareness of knife crime, especially among young people.

Inspired by the strength of her mother and grandmother, Grace wrote in her letter: “I am very proud of both of them and feel [text missing] and it is an honor to go with them.”
