Efforts underway to open AJK roads after snowfall

MUZAFFARABAD:

Highway authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) were busy keeping roads open in the region after heavy snowfall in the upper Neelum Valley and other areas, officials told The Express PAkGazette on Wednesday.

AJK Highways Chief Sohail Qureshi said heavy machinery was constantly being used to open the roads, which had been closed due to snowfall. He said the Neelum Highway from Chalhana to Grace Valley was open for tourists.

Earlier this week, continued snowfall in and around Neelum Valley led to the closure of all connecting roads, causing major disruption for locals and tourists alike. Due to the closed roads, people in many areas reportedly faced difficulties.
