Highway police act quickly, regulate traffic and prevent more accidents
An oil tanker capsized near Nooriabad, Karachi, on the M-9 highway, disrupting the flow of traffic on Friday morning. The accident caused a large oil spill, causing long delays in both directions.
The oil spill caused the road to become slippery, resulting in a significant reduction in vehicle speed. The road was completely restored to traffic by the Southern Zone National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP).
According to the spokesperson, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries from the incident.
Upon receiving the reports, the National Highway and Highway Police went to the scene. Police controlled traffic and diverted vehicles safely.

According to rescue authorities, the overturned tanker was righted with the help of heavy machinery and efforts are underway to clean up the spilled oil. Officers spread dirt over the spilled oil to absorb it and dry the road.
The highway police spokesperson said traffic near Nooriabad has been completely restored and they are always prepared to deal with any emergency.
In December 2024, a trailer rear-ended an oil tanker on the Native Jetty Bridge. As a result, oil from the tanker spilled and the road became dangerously slippery. Traffic police and other law enforcement teams reached the spot and closed the road for vehicular traffic.
