Taylor Momsen opened up about a tense moment on the set of How the Grinch Stole Christmasremembering how Jim Carrey once stopped production to ensure his safety during a stunt.

Momsen, who was only 7 years old when he filmed his first feature film, described the scene in VultureThe oral history of the film.

“I remember when we were filming the scene going down the mountain on the sled. It was a real sled that was on a giant spring that was being controlled and moving back and forth, very aggressively,” Momsen said.

“There was a moment where I almost fell off the sled and he got scared. He called the cut and started checking on me. I was having a great time. I was laughing; I wasn’t thinking about the fact that I almost fell high off the ground.”

She added that Carrey’s presence made her feel safe on set.

“At such a young age, seeing an artist who takes what he does so seriously even while playing this over-the-top character, it became clear to me how much he was putting into it and what an artist he was.”

Carrey praised Momsen’s early talent, calling her “an incredibly precocious child” with “comic timing.” [that] It was impeccable. A real professional. “I don’t think she’s ever followed a line or missed a sign or anything like that.”

The two recently reunited for the first time in 25 years at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, sparking nostalgia among fans.

“He has really powerful manners. I was so happy that he did so well. He’s been through some challenges in his life and he came out on top. And he brought me a Crunchie, which is my favorite candy bar. It was amazing.”
