- Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is a new wet floor cleaner that joins the WashG1
- It is one of the lightest wet cleaners on the market.
- There are no filters or dirty water pipes and it is self-drying for minimal maintenance.
Wet floor cleaners save a lot of effort when it comes to mopping, but sometimes appliance maintenance is demanding and unpleasant enough to barely be worth it, and Dyson is tackling the problem with its new wet floor cleaner.
The Clean+Wash Hygiene is an updated sister model to the Dyson WashG1, and improves on that device in three main ways, two of which address the maintenance side of things so it requires less hands-on time on your part. Let’s take a closer look…
1. There is no filter or tube to clean
For Clean+Wash Hygiene, the dirty water tank is completely integrated into the head itself. There is no filter or pipe so dirty water slowly clogs up. Keeping the internal mechanisms clean and fluid is one of the most important and complicated maintenance jobs associated with wet and dry vacuums, and Dyson has basically eliminated them entirely here.
The design of the WashG1 addresses this issue: integrated into the floor head is a filter to collect solid waste, so there’s no need to run through any tubing, and the dirty water tank is large and smooth inside, making it easy to reach in and properly clean as needed. But this new setup seems even simpler: there’s no filter to clean.
Within the Dyson line, the setup is more like the self-contained mop head included with the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine. (I just hope it doesn’t have the same spill problem we encountered with that design.)
2. It is ultralight
Some of the best wet-dry vacuums on the market are so heavy and unwieldy that using them is a major exercise. The WashG1 was relatively lightweight, but the Clean+Wash Hygiene is even lighter; In fact, Dyson says it’s the lightest option on the market (using data from the top three dedicated floor washer models from each of the top five brands globally), weighing just 8.42 lbs/3.82 kg.
Part of the weight savings is likely because this new model, like the WashG1, has no suction. Instead, it just uses water and agitation to remove dirt and spills.
Clean+Wash Hygiene can also rest completely on the floor to clean under low furniture. In this mode, it is only 4.44 inches/11.3 cm tall.
3. Clean and dry your own roller.
The WashG1 came with a self-wash mode that ran clean water through the system and over the roller. Clean+Wash Hygiene can do that too, but you can also dry the roller with hot air, which saves you from having to take it apart and put it somewhere after each cleaning.
This feature puts it more in line with the overall market, although it is actually still a bit behind the competition. I’m seeing more and more self-cleaning modes that use hot water to remove grease. However, the Clean+Wash Hygiene system will take care of the hard work of mop maintenance for you.
What else is new?
There are other minor improvements that also look promising. As with the WashG1, the roller is fed with fresh water as it moves, while dirt is continuously removed. The roller here has been improved, though: It’s more densely packed with fibers to make it more absorbent, and Dyson has added nylon bristles for extra scrubbing power.
Again you have three hydration settings plus a Boost mode that provides additional water. However, Dyson has modified the delivery to allow the Clean+Wash Hygiene to clean a 20% larger space than its predecessor, despite having a smaller clean water tank (750ml vs 1 litre).
Plus, it can now be used with Dyson cleaning fluid, whereas previously the recommendation was just water. The new ‘Dyson 02 Probiotic’ is a non-toxic, foam-free hard floor cleaning solution that is specially formulated to work with Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene.
Price and availability
Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene is on sale now in the UK with a list price of £429.99. It’s scheduled to go on sale in the US and Australia in 2026, but I don’t have any details or pricing yet. I have one on the way and will update you with my thoughts when the full review embargo is lifted in early February.
It was first introduced amid a flurry of product announcements in September 2025. I’ve already reviewed the flagship Dyson V16 Piston Animal vacuum and the affordable Dyson V8 Cyclone stick vacuum, and I have the Dyson PencilVac in my review pile along with the Spot+Scrub AI robot vacuum, Dyson’s surprise new robot vacuum.
