- Buddy It’s Warner Bros.’s latest horror movie, but its trailer leaves little to the imagination
- It hits theaters on January 31.
- The star-studded cast includes Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid and Lukas Gage.
Earlier this year I wrote about the 6 biggest horror movies coming in 2025 that I can’t wait to see, and now I’ve seen the trailer for BuddyI will definitely add it to my list. However, I’m disappointed by how much plot the trailer spoils, rather than taking a more mysterious approach like the trailers for some of the best horror movies of 2024.
Buddy It stars Sophie Thatcher, who we recently saw on A24. Heretic next to the boys‘ Jack Quaid, so he has a great cast lined up. But if you want to dig in knowing as little as possible, the trailer reveals a pretty important detail about this movie, and plenty of people have taken to the comments on YouTube to complain about it. The sci-fi horror has a pretty crazy twist, and if you don’t want to watch it, you might want to stay away from the trailer!

What is it about Companion?
The trailer shows Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid playing what appears to be a couple. As the trailer begins, Sophie’s character Iris says, “There have been two times in my life when I was happiest. The first was the day I met Josh and the second was the day I killed him.” So we know that Josh will meet his maker in some point of the movie, which is a pretty intriguing setup, but the trailer goes a step further and reveals a big twist about Iris’s identity.
I still want to see Buddy but I hope there are more surprises along the way, as I think having to wait to find out the truth about Iris would have been more shocking for viewers. But with two great leads, a few laughs along the way, and what appears to be a lot of violence, I’m willing to give it a try. Hopefully, I’ll be forced to eat my words!
