After a win on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” Caleb Williams criticized the game’s color commentator, Troy Aikman, for saying that “luck” contributed to the game-winning touchdown.
Williams revealed a couple of days later that he did not meet with Aikman or his teammate, Joe Buck, before the Chicago Bears’ game against the Washington Commanders. Announcers typically meet with the head coach and quarterback before the game.
However, Buck claimed that Williams skipped both obligations with the “MNF” team this year.

“All of these (Zoom) meetings are scheduled into your schedule… We understand that you guys are busy. You’re getting ready for a game. The last thing you probably want to do is talk to us. It’s kind of part of the exercise, but we’ll do it when it’s convenient for you, based on your schedule,” Buck said in the “Means YES” podcast.
“We had the same problem in Week 1 with Caleb, and then we had it again. I guess he brought it up saying, ‘Well, I didn’t talk to Troy before the game.’ But we sat on a Zoom waiting forever and he never showed up. I don’t know what else we can do.”

“That’s the part that bothered me the most. This was on their guys’ schedule. And we sat there, and it happened twice within the first six or seven weeks. It’s whatever.”
At the time, Williams said that “I tried to find us” with Aikman, but he arrived late at the team facility and the timing didn’t correspond with the uprising or whatever the case was.
“I tried to call him after the day I was supposed to meet him, and he couldn’t get through,” she added.

There’s still a chance they could meet, as the Bears are on a playoff run and ESPN broadcasts games in both the wild card and divisional rounds.
