- The Galaxy Z Flip 8 could have the Exynos 2600
- Samsung’s Exynos 2500 powers the Galaxy Z Flip 7
- We may see the phone appear in mid-2026.
If you take a look at our list of the best foldable phones, you’ll see that Samsung is well represented and a new leak may have given us a big clue about what to expect from an upcoming Samsung foldable that will arrive in the middle of next year.
That foldable is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 and, according to South Korean outlet The Bell (via 9to5Google), the phone is set to run on the Samsung Exynos 2600 processor that recently became official.
If that turns out to be the case, the foldable will follow the lead of its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: that phone exclusively used the Exynos 2500 chipset, although all the Galaxy S25 phones from earlier in the year (and indeed the Galaxy Z Fold 7) used Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets.
Going with Exynos will certainly save Samsung money: the Exynos 2600 is the first mobile chipset built using a 2-nanometer process, which means higher transistor density, better performance, and higher efficiency. The graphics and artificial intelligence capabilities have also been updated compared to the previous generation.
The Exynos issue
Every year we wonder how many phones will have Exynos processors inside. The Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets that Samsung also uses are more expensive for the manufacturer, but are generally considered superior in terms of performance, although that can change from year to year.
There were rumors last year that issues with the production of the Exynos 2500 were the reason it was largely overlooked until the Galaxy Z Flip 7 appeared in July 2025. The chipset also found its way into the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE that launched at the same time, offering users a foldable at a cheaper price.
On paper at least, the Exynos 2600 looks like an impressive piece of silicon, and it’s expected to play a bigger role than the Exynos 2500. It seems likely to appear on the Galaxy S26+ in at least some regions, for example.
Since rumors are also circulating that the Galaxy S26 series could launch later in the year than the Galaxy S25 phones before them, we may have to wait a little longer to find out what Samsung has decided and of course we’ll let you know as soon as it’s official.
