Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver DK Metcalf punched a fan in the stands at Ford Field during the team’s game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
The CBS broadcast captured the intense moment.
During the interaction, the two talked before Metcalf appeared to try to grab the fan’s blue wig. He then threw a closed fist at the fan aimed at his face, although it appeared to miss it.

Metcalf was not ejected because officials did not see the altercation, but ESPN reported that the NFL will review the incident.
While Metcalf will almost certainly face league discipline, whether or not he is suspended will be the big question for a Steelers team that is in the midst of the playoff hunt.

Metcalf is quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ favorite player in the wide receiver room. Coming into the game, Metcalf had 808 yards on 55 receptions this season with six touchdowns.
Coming into the game, the Steelers held a one-game lead in the AFC North division at 8-6, with the Baltimore Ravens right behind them at 7-7. The Ravens face the New England Patriots later Sunday night, but you’re probably tuned in to see what’s going on with Pittsburgh in Detroit.

Considering the current AFC playoff picture, the Steelers’ best chance of making the postseason is to win the division, and having all the impact players on the field for the remaining games is crucial to achieving that goal.
Metcalf knows better than to interact with fans this way, but his actions could have serious consequences depending on how the league views them.
