50 million rupees allocated for renovation of shrines and mosques

The Punjab Auqaf department has allocated more than Rs 50 million for the construction and renovation of several shrines and mosques.

The funds include Rs 10 million for the renovation of Dargah Shah Chiragh, Rs 20 million for the Shah Sufair shrine in Sohawa and Rs 10 million for development work at Jamia Masjid Usmania in Okara.

Additionally, an amount has been allocated for the construction and renovation of the Langar Khana and library at the Baba Farid shrine in Pakpattan under the Annual Development Plan (ADP) 2025-26.

According to officials, the renovation plan for Dargah Shah Chiragh includes removing old lime plaster from the outside and carrying out fresco painting work inside the shrine, with an approved cost of Rs 10 million.

Similarly, at Shah Sufair shrine in Sohawa, Jhelum, work on construction of boundary walls around Langar Khana, along with renovation of ablution and bathing areas, is being carried out at an approved cost of Rs 20 million. The project also includes excavation, grading, lining and filling around the sanctuary.

Additionally, Rs 10 million has been allocated for development work at Jamia Masjid Usmania in Okara.

Punjab Auqaf Chief Administrator Ehsan Bhutta stated that all the projects would be completed soon, providing visitors with adequate facilities while preserving the religious heritage of the province.
