Lady Gaga is giving her fans an unexpected Christmas surprise, announcing that her long-awaited concert film, Lady Gaga at Harlequin Live – One Night Onlywill be released just in time for Christmas.
The film will premiere on YouTube at 4 pm PT on Christmas Eve and will offer what Gaga herself has presented as a rebellious gift to her fans.
The announcement follows the film’s recent premiere at the Grammy Museum, where Gaga appeared for an in-depth conversation with Variety.
The project is closely linked to his late 2024 album. Harlequinwhich is currently nominated for a Grammy for best traditional pop album.
At the same time, its most recent release, Violenceheads into the Grammy ceremony on February 1 with seven nominations, marking a particularly busy and celebrated period in her career.
The concert film was shot at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles on September 30, 2024, during a post-midnight performance that only a small group of fans were able to witness in person.
Despite the euphoric response from attendees, the images remained hidden for months, quietly gaining an almost mythical status among fans.
Gaga explained the decision to release the film now during her appearance at the Grammy Museum, saying, “I feel like: Why not? We have something that’s so special to us, so we’re really happy to share it with the fans.”
He added: “It’s kind of a rebellious project. And by Harlequin standards, Christmas is the perfect time to launch something rebellious.”
He also talked about why the film was delayed despite high anticipation.
“It was interesting: When we first saw the images, we said, ‘This is not the right time to post this,'” he said.
“And we collectively agreed that we would allow the story of Belasco’s performance to flourish with the fans, until it seemed like it was time… And this is like a Christmas present.”
The performance featured Gaga and a six-piece band offering stripped-down, lightly rocking versions of songs including That’s entertainment, Such is life and When the saints march inalong with two original songs from Harlequin.
With no previously released photos or clips, the film’s arrival offers fans their first real look at a show that had only existed by word of mouth.
For many, Lady Gaga at Harlequin Live – One Night Only It arrives not only as a concert film, but as a long-promised moment finally shared, just on the eve of Christmas.
