WASA launches sewer safety campaign

Approve dividing the city into 13 operational zones for the prompt provision of services and resolution of public complaints

FAISALABAD:

In an effort to curb accidents caused by uncovered manholes, the divisional and district administrations of Faisalabad, in coordination with WASA, have tightened measures against theft and negligence, following the tragic incidents in Lahore and Karachi.

Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar approved dividing the city into 13 operational zones for prompt service delivery and redressal of public grievances.

Responsibilities for each area have been assigned to teams led by directors.

Each area in charge will supervise the plugging of open sewers, the resolution of sewage problems and the handling of citizen complaints, with strict instructions that no negligence will be tolerated.

During a meeting of water and sanitation experts, the Commissioner and WASA officials outlined the 13 zonal structures.

WASA Director General Faisalabad Saqib Raza announced that WASA helpline 1334 remains operational 24/7 and a Rapid Response Force has been established to immediately cover the missing culverts and slabs.

Supervised by the Deputy Chief Officer (CRC), the force remains on high alert at WASA Headquarters to respond to any night-time reports.
