Tell Me Lies season 3 synopsis and story rumors
Major spoilers follow tell me lies seasons 1 and 2.
While tell me lies Beginning as an adaptation of Lovering’s novel of the same name, season 2 expanded and veered off the main path, adding new events and stories for viewers to follow.
So if you’re thinking about checking out the book for a look at season 3, you’ll want to keep in mind that at this point it’s a lose adaptation.
Fortunately, we have an official logline for season 3 that gives us quite a bit of information about what’s to come: “tell me lies Season 3 follows Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco as they rekindle their tumultuous romance in time for the spring semester at Baird College.
“Although they promise that things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with.
“Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions of the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to confront their own destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester on campus, cruel consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.”
As if the scandal at the end of season 2 wasn’t enough. If you need a little reminder, at their wedding, Bree heard a voicemail from Stephen telling her that Evan once cheated on her with Lucy. She knew he had cheated on her, but not with her.
And while it will be addressed, showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer says it will be a surprising twist. Speaking exclusively to Teen Vogue, she explained: “I think the consequences of the voicemail are vast and brutal and savage, but I don’t No represent how people will anticipate.”
For Season 3, executive producer Tyne Rafaeli also hinted that Season 3 will turn up the heat on much of the show’s already hot drama: “It feels like the stakes of their decisions are much higher; the consequences of their decisions just feel more dangerous. They’re getting into dark areas of sexual and psychological relationships that I don’t think this show has seen yet.”
Oppenheimer adds that the third season will begin in January 2009, as a “hostage situation.” He said: “I feel like we answered the question of Stephen’s morality, to some extent, in a fun way, which I think will surprise people.”
For Lucy this season, Oppenheimer explains, “she has a reaction to shame that is really deep and very, very dark. People are going to have very strong feelings about it. I don’t think everyone is going to like it. They’re going to enjoy watching it, but I think some people are going to be offended. But I’m okay with that.”
But it’s not just Lucy and Stephen’s relationship that becomes tumultuously intertwined. tell me lies. Oppenheimer says the cast and crew “were very surprised by Bree’s fate this season.”
In the season 2 finale, aside from her wedding to Evan seemingly about to blow up, the Baird College timeline, Bree had realized that Oliver was in an open marriage to Marianne, which through all the validity of what Oliver really felt about her became emotional chaos.
There’s a lot to learn in season 3; the shocking death of Wrigley’s brother Drew, Pippa’s personal journey to deal with the emotional toll her assault has taken on her, Bree’s crossroads both past and present, and of course, Stephen and Lucy’s toxic relationship. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait long.
Will there be more season 4 of Tell Me Lies?
For anyone hoping for more seasons of tell me liesI’m afraid there is bad news.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tom Ellis was asked if season 3 will be the last, to which he revealed: “I think so, I think Meaghan [Oppenheimer] “He’s written it to be the last season.”
And considering Meaghan is his wife in real life, it seems pretty likely that he knew what she was planning.
While it’s disappointing news for fans, he also added that Season 3 will be the “darkest season yet,” and that’s certainly one way to go out strong.
