The morning program Season 5 officially continues, which isn’t surprising considering it’s one of Apple TV’s flagship productions and most popular TV shows, but it’s also one of its most divisive.
Is the show a fictional look behind the scenes of all the drama and scandal that happens on The Morning Show on UBN? A fun, escapist soap opera watch? Or is it dumb, “chaotic,” or “the most ridiculous show on television,” as some critics have described it? Well, it’s a mix of all of the above, really.
The show directed by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon is undoubtedly a unique viewing experience. In fact, the series has attracted many viewers: Deadline reported after the third season that it was Apple TV’s most-watched show and had broken records.
The fourth season launched in September 2025, and within the week of its release, the streamer revealed that the multi-Emmy award-winning show had been renewed for a fifth season. So what do we know so far about where the next chapter will take us? Who can we expect in the cast and when is the possible release date? As breaking news on the morning television channel: here you have all the news:
The Morning Show season 5: release date speculation
While an exact release date has not been announced for The morning program season 5 yet, looking back at the show’s previous four series, we may have to wait a bit. Traditionally, there has been a two-year gap between each series, and although the most recent series would have been delayed by Hollywood strikes, there may still be the same length between seasons 4 and 5.
So, with the new series announced in September 2025, that could mean the next season might not hit our screens until the second half of 2027. But, as we said, nothing is confirmed yet, and perhaps the production team could surprise us with an early start, as could the show’s TV presenters.
The Morning Show season 5: trailer speculations
There’s nothing for the trailer yet, but keep checking back and as soon as the news comes out, we’ll upload the trailer for the new series.
The Morning Show season 5: cast, confirmed and speculated
Spoilers for previous seasons of The morning program.
We know that the show’s two main female leads, Jennifer Aniston, who plays TV host Alex Levy, and Reese Witherspoon, who plays the brilliant Bradley Jackson, will return, and Billy Crudup, who plays the ruthless Cory Ellison, will likely return as well.
While other guest stars have yet to be confirmed, and a few big surprise names are typically announced each season, it’s also very likely that we’ll see returns of:
- Néstor Carbonell as Yanko Flores
- Karen Pittman as Mia Jordan
- Mark Duplass as Charlie “Chip” Black
- Jon Hamm as Paul Marks
- Nicole Beharie as Christine “Chris” Hunter
- William Jackson Harper as Ben
However, there are a couple of characters we are unlikely to see again. The first: spoiler alert! – is Stella Bak (Greta Lee), who after seizing power and conducting some underhanded business, fell on her own sword and was last seen emigrating to Naples, Italy.
The second is network boss Celine Dumont (Marion Cotillard), who was ultimately ousted at the end of season 4 and sent back to France to be the “scapegoat” for her family’s wrongdoings.
The Morning Show season 5: potential plot
To catch everyone up (and obviously stop reading here if you’re not up to date on Season 4), the Season 4 finale was a whirlwind. Alex Levy was forced to resign by Celine, who said she would reveal Alex and Paul Marks’ (Jon Hamm) dubious deals with Russian oligarchs to try to free Bradley Jackson from the Belarus prison she was trapped in.
But Cory proved he had a moral bone in his body when he helped Alex controversially reveal that Celine and her family were behind the Wolf River pollution cover-up; and they exposed her by putting her rant on loudspeaker, during a live press conference, in which she was implicated in the scandal.
In the final scenes, Bradley and Alex were emotionally reunited when she was released from prison. “I’m sorry, I screwed up,” she screamed in Alex’s arms, while Alex assured her that it was actually the opposite: “You changed everything,” he told her.
So now Bradley and Alex will presumably once again be the leaders of UBN, but how can the network, which continually claims to pride itself on its transparency, continue after these huge scandals? Bradley and Alex will likely have to work once again to improve the network’s reputation and viewers’ trust in the show. And who will be the new board members who will help restore faith in the NBI? Guess now which guest stars will be joining this role and, like the other nefarious characters above, what agenda of their own they will bring with them.
And as for that final flirting scene with Alex and Paul (“I think it hurt a little,” Alex says, while replying, “Well, I think I’m developing a tolerance.”)? Here’s our bet that that special look they gave each other when the elevator door closed means their romance is far from dead; in fact, it seems certain that he will return in season 5.
As head of Apple TV programming, Matt Cherniss said: “The morning program continues to deliver addictively entertaining and provocative stories that we’ve all come to love.” And we can’t wait to see where he goes next.
The Morning Show: the future
While the show is attracting record numbers of viewers for Apple TV, the streamer will likely want to continue The Morning Show for as long as possible.
However, there seems to be a bit of hesitation on the part of showrunner Charlotte Stoudt. talking to Deadline about the future of the show, She said: “Part of that really is an Apple question. And so are the actors. They’re very busy and have a lot of other things to do. I would say we’re early enough in the writing room this year that my real answer to that is, I’m not sure. It’s just a matter of, where do these people end up? And how long does it take them to get clear about their lives? And certainly. Right now, I don’t know anyone who feels that clear about anything. [It’s] a very destabilizing moment.”
