As we are about to say goodbye to 2025 and welcome the new dawn of 2026, Google takes a look at the top searches of the year.
Google’s list of top search trends of 2025 highlights the viral pop culture events, people, and moments that got everyone searching on Google.
Charlie Kirk remained the most searched keyword on Google in 2025, while behind it was the hit Netflix movie “kpop demon hunters,” the viral Labubu collectible plush, Apple’s iPhone 17, and the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which was signed into law in July and passed by Congress.
Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old conservative, who was shot and killed while addressing college crowds on his Turning Point USA tour at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, fueled an increase in search spikes across the United States.
Other major search spikes included New York City’s first Muslim elected mayor Zohran Mamdani, artificial intelligence platform DeepSeek, the US government shutdown, the FIFA Club World Cup and tariffs, Google reported.
