Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said that unity, dialogue and justice are the foundation of a strong and peaceful Pakistan. Addressing a conference of academics and clerics in Faisalabad on Sunday, the PUC president said Pakistan’s armed forces and leadership are fully capable of safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and stability.
He said peace and harmony can only be ensured by strengthening institutions and promoting systems based on justice. Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said that Pakistan has made great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and will continue its efforts for regional peace.
The PUC president urged neighboring Afghanistan to play a constructive role in ensuring stability and preventing elements that threaten peace. Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have deteriorated dramatically in recent months.
