- Samsung unveils new Music Studio wireless speakers ahead of CES
- Music Studio 5 has one woofer and two tweeters
- Music Studio 7 has a 3.1.1 configuration and high-resolution audio support
Ahead of CES 2026, Samsung revealed two new wireless speakers, right around the same time it revealed its next two flagship Dolby Atmos soundbars for 2026.
These speakers are called Samsung Music Studio 5 and Music Studio 7, respectively, and their appearance immediately caught my attention.
They’re available in black or white, and I find their simple shape with the concave ‘plate’ shape and a dot in the center fantastic: they make me think of the classic industrial design work of Dieter Rams (most notably Braun), which inspired many of Apple’s designs, including the iPod, and I think you can see some shared DNA especially in the larger Music Studio 7.
Samsung says this about the design: “Each model shares a timeless knit concept from renowned designer Erwan Bouroullec, inspired by a universal symbol of music and art, and based on Samsung’s signature aesthetic.” Bouroullec has previously worked with Samsung on the attractive Serif TV.
However, the configurations inside the speakers will be of interest to people looking for a new option among the best wireless speakers, because they closely resemble what Sonos has been doing in its Era speakers.
The first is the Music Studio 5 (also known more formally as the LS50H), which features a four-inch woofer and two tweeters. This is the same basic speaker setup as the Sonos Era 100, and in fact, it’s also what you’ll find in the Sonos Move 2 and Wiim Sound.
It’s the smaller of the two Samsung speakers, but it’s packed with tech, including AI Dynamic Bass Control that “deepens the low frequencies without distortion,” as well as supporting streaming over Wi-Fi, direct streaming from music services, and playback from Bluetooth.
Noticeably absent from the list is support for high-resolution audio, which the other speaker supports, so let’s get into that.
The Samsung Music Studio 7 (also known as LS70H) is a more robust option and has what Samsung describes as a 3.1.1 speaker setup. What this means is that it has left, front, right and upstream drivers for “spatial sound”, and presumably some kind of woofer system for bass (since that’s what one of the ‘.1’ numbers means, but Samsung didn’t specify this).
I don’t want to surprise you, but it turns out it’s pretty much the exact same configuration as the Sonos Era 300. I told you Samsung was really targeting Sonos with these. However, I think it is much nicer than the Era 300.
Samsung says this model supports high-resolution audio (up to 24-bit/96kHz) and again features AI dynamic bass control, plus streaming and streaming over Wi-Fi, although Samsung doesn’t mention Bluetooth.
It’s also strangely vague about exactly what “spatial audio” support can be expected; The Sonos Era 300 runs Dolby Atmos, but that’s not mentioned here at all.
However, Samsung mentions that Music Studio 7 can be used as surround speakers for Q-Symphony compatible Samsung sound bars and TVs (which is most of them). This will presumably support Dolby Atmos, and Samsung says you can now have up to five speakers connected to one TV (no soundbar required, if you prefer).
We’ll probably have to wait for more details to be revealed at CES, and that includes pricing, though I have to assume Samsung will aim close to the price of the Sonos speakers they compete with. The Sonos Era 100 was $249 / £249 / AU$399 at launch, although it has since dropped in price, while the Sonos Era 300 was $449 / £449 / AU$749 at launch.
