Simu Liu details the inspiration behind ‘The Copenhagen Trial’

Simu Liu reflected on his latest spy project. The Copenhagen test and what attracted him to it.

Liu plays an intelligence agent from the new future, Alexander Hale, whose brain is hacked allowing unknown forces to see and hear everything he does.

In a conversation with DeadlineThe Marvel star spoke in detail about his new sci-fi thriller series.

“I think on the one hand, it was definitely the premise and the world-building, just dealing with themes of surveillance and technology,” he began. “I feel like a lot of that stuff is really current and relevant today.”

He continued, “And so, I think there was that. I really appreciated Thomas’ vision of these 5 minutes in the future, set in this world of intelligence. And the fact that he got to play a super spy, I think that’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Liu continued to talk about relating to the role, saying, “And then on the other hand, it was the cultural specificity. I was really struck by Alexander’s backstory in the script and felt like he was someone who, in a completely three-dimensional way, embodied what it was like for someone from an immigrant family to be in a situation or work in a situation, an environment where you’re constantly questioned, overlooked and constantly underestimated.”

“I think, for me, it’s something that a lot of people who grew up in those immigrant families, something that I think resonates a lot.” Said.

The Copenhagen test He was released on December 27.
