This week was surprisingly quiet in the tech world. We just had this little event called CES 2026, not sure you’ve heard of it?
Jokes aside, CES is the biggest tech show of the year and, as expected, a lot of news came out. From Lego Smart Play to Samsung TriFold, it was something else.
7. We choose our best devices from CES 2026
This week has been a fever dream for AI-powered robotic bartenders and musical popsicles, and it’s all thanks to CES 2026. The Las Vegas staple is still the biggest tech show of the year, but what are the best new products we’re actually going to buy?
Luckily, our tech experts were on hand at CES 2026 and picked out their highlights on everything from TVs to fitness trackers to robotic vacuums. If you want to see the potential stars of this year’s devices, or just get a taste of what’s to come, be sure to read our roundup below.
6. Lego got an update
Lego announced a major update to its bricks this week with the Smart Brick. This special block can detect special sensors inside certain minifigures and mosaic pieces to activate sounds, turn on lights, and generally enhance the play features of Lego sets in ways we’ve never seen before.
The Smart Brick debuts in Star Wars sets to fairly mixed reactions, but TechRadar’s Jacob Krol saw the piece firsthand and thinks it could be a fantastic new option in Lego’s repertoire.
The first three Smart Brick sets are now available for pre-order ahead of their launch on March 1, with the cheapest option starting at $69.99 / £59.99 / AU$99.99.
5. ChatGPT received a medical update
There are now so many people using ChatGPT for health advice (40 million people a day at last count) that OpenAI has finally decided to do something about it.
ChatGPT Health is a dedicated health section of the app, coming soon, where you can securely upload your medical records and receive detailed responses tailored to your specific circumstances. You can also pull personal health data from apps like Apple Health, if you allow it.
OpenAI envisions ChatGPT Health as a tool to aid in your diagnosis and treatment, rather than a diagnostic tool, but for the hypochondriacs among us, it sounds like the perfect way to get a second, third, or even fourth opinion.
4. IKEA made a splash at CES
IKEA made its CES debut at this year’s event and was, to say the least, a huge success. The company reacted quite a bit to the new version of its Varmblixt donut lamp, which received a handful of smart new updates, but its Kallsup speaker was another standout.
One of the latest additions to IKEA’s family of audio devices is a basic Bluetooth speaker that costs just $10. It comes in three bright colors, including lime green, pink, and white, and will arrive in April.
Although its size means its audio isn’t the most powerful, it’s still a powerful speaker in other ways. It supports Bluetooth 5.3 and allows you to connect up to 100 devices with a simple touch, and it runs on rechargeable and replaceable batteries, allowing you to extend its lifespan.
3. Fujifilm presented the strangest Instax ever created
Following the launch of the wonderfully strange, half-frame-inspired X Half digital camera last year, Fujifilm quickly made good on its promise to unveil more concept cameras in 2026.
The latest surprise comes in the Super-8 style form of the Instax Mini Evo Cinema, which is an instant camera like no other: the first that also shoots video and features a quirky ‘era’ dial. With a setting for each decade dating back to the 1930s, the Mini Evo Cinema replicates popular looks such as the Super 8 of the 60s and the color negative of the 80s.
We only have Fujifilm Japan’s press release to go on, but fingers crossed the quirky hybrid instant digital film camera gets a global release; We can’t wait to try it!
2. We saw the latest robot vacuum cleaner with legs.
Robotic vacuum cleaners are evolving quickly: Last year, Roborock gave us one with a mechanical arm, and at CES 2026 this week, it showed off its first model with legs. Can the Saros Rover’s limbs do more than scare your dog? Well, actually yes, as they are also designed to help clean almost any staircase in your home.
According to Roborock, that will include not only straight stairs but also spiral staircases. The climbing powers of the Saros Rover should make it a strong contender for multi-level homes. Unfortunately, it’s just a prototype for now, but Roborock told us that it is a real product that will hit the market. Maybe warn your dog, just in case.
1. We tested the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold
We were able to test Samsung’s TriFold phone, and it could finally be the pocket-sized folding tablet they have promised to be since their inception.
Lance Ulanoff tested the phone at CES 2026 in Las Vegas and was impressed by its thinness and the performance he experienced.
Now it’s still not perfect. The camera setup won’t wow everyone, there’s no S Pen support yet and the cost is expected to be very high, but this is definitely one of the phones to watch in 2026, and even at this point in the year, it could be in the running for phone of the year.
