KHYBER: At least five people were killed after a car collided with a truck near Bab-e-Khyber, rescue officials said on Sunday.
The accident occurred on the main highway of Khyber district when the car, which was traveling at high speed, collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the car was severely damaged, leaving five people dead, Rescue officials said.
Rescuers rushed to the scene shortly after receiving information about the accident. The five injured died instantly due to serious injuries. Later, their bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities, officials said.
According to rescuers, the cause of the accident appears to be excessive speed.
The mishap took place three days after an accident in Chakwal district that claimed the lives of five bus passengers.
The accident took place in Dhok Pathan area of Chakwal district, where a passenger bus fell into a ravine on Wednesday.
Accidents are not uncommon in Pakistan and occur frequently due to various reasons including driver negligence, road conditions and intensity of weather, etc.
In a similar accident in December 2025, at least 11 people died after a bus overturned on the M-14 highway near Fateh Jang.
The victims were from Bahawalpur, Vehari, Sharaqpur and Islamabad, rescue officials added.
