Indonesian Defense Minister Lieutenant General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (retd) called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to discuss strengthening defense ties, the army’s media wing said on Monday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, evolving regional and global security dynamics and opportunities to enhance bilateral security cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional ties, training collaboration and defense industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.
According to the statement, the visiting dignitary praised the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He also expressed Indonesia’s desire to expand defense ties with Pakistan in multiple areas.
The ISPR added that Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a strong and enduring defense relationship with Indonesia, based on shared values, mutual respect and convergence of strategic interests.
