Authorities say the interception also thwarted a possible large-scale terrorist operation inside Pakistan.

Pakistani authorities have intercepted a large cache of ammunition and magazines smuggled from Afghanistan, sources at the Torkham border confirmed. According to authorities, the weapons were seized from a truck and both the vehicle and its driver were detained for further investigation.
The operation was carried out by Pakistan Customs in Torkham, under the supervision of Collector of Customs Apprizment and Additional Collector Amir Hamza Cheema, acting on a tip-off. Authorities said the interception not only prevented a major weapons smuggling attempt, but also thwarted a potential large-scale terrorist operation inside Pakistan.
Security sources said that following the withdrawal of US and NATO forces from Afghanistan, billions of dollars worth of military equipment was left behind, some of which is believed to be used by the banned militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) against Pakistani security forces.
Both the United Nations and US officials have identified the TTP as a major regional security threat, posing dangers to Pakistan and neighboring countries.
