President Asif Ali Zardari convened the 12th session of the 16th National Assembly on January 13, 2025 at 5 pm in Parliament.
The session has been convened under Article 54 (1) of the Constitution, as per the powers vested in the President, Express News reported.
The Secretariat of the National Assembly confirmed the announcement.
The upcoming session, the first of the National Assembly in 2025, is expected to address critical legislative issues and debates fundamental to national governance. It will be the twelfth session of the current assembly.
The government is also expected to introduce different bills in the legislation session. I would also present a routine agenda in this session.
Talks between the government and the opposition will continue during the National Assembly session that comes amid the round of negotiations between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government.
However, it seems that the PTI’s negotiation process with the government faces multiple obstacles, especially when it comes to access to Imran Khan. Lawyer Gohar Khan and other PTI leaders have consistently emphasized the importance of direct communication with their party founder to finalize any demand or proposal.
The government’s hesitation or inability to facilitate such meetings is not only delaying progress but also fueling mistrust between the parties.
