Verizon just confirmed the issue with TechRadar and is working to fix it

Verizon says it is aware of the issue affecting both voice and data for some customers, but does not show the extent of the impact. It is clearly quite wide; Scroll down and read the comments below.

There is no timeline for a resolution, but Verizon engineers are working on it. So that’s positive.

For those counting, Down Detector now has over 90,000 reported issues, with many in the comments noting that their phones are showing ‘SOS’ instead of network bars. This likely indicates that the device cannot access the cellular network and instead defaults to satellite connectivity, a feature offered by the iPhone and other smartphones.

The spike is real on Down Detector: as of 12:16 pm ET, there are over 46,000 reported outages and some of my colleagues using Veirzon are seeing ‘SOS’ instead of network bars on their iPhones.
