- A Sony launch event will take place on January 21.
- Rumors suggest we will see LinkBuds Clip headphones
- The wait continues for the Sony WF-1000XM6 headphones
Sony has published a mysterious preview online, announcing the presentation of a new product for next Wednesday, January 21. The tagline promises “a new way to listen,” and we think that means new wireless earbuds are on the way.
The trailer was originally spotted by The Walkman Blog, but additional context added by Dealabs tipsters suggests that we’ll be getting the Sony LinkBuds Clip headphones at this particular launch event, so not the Sony WF-1000XM6.
We’ve seen a lot of rumors about the Sony WF-1000XM6 in recent weeks, and considering how much we love the Sony WF-1000XM5, we’re also looking forward to these wireless headphones. However, they are more likely to be released in February.
Instead of the Sony WF-1000XM6, we will get the Sony LinkBuds Clip, according to insiders. We’ve seen several pairs of LinkBuds series earbuds in the past, including the Sony LinkBuds Open.

More information from Dealabs suggests that the LinkBuds Clip headphones will have the model number WF-LC900 and will be similar to the Huawei FreeClip or JBL Soundgear Clips that were just introduced at CES 2026.
That means some type of hook that goes behind your ear to keep the headphones in place for long periods of time, while still feeling lightweight. At the same time, the open-ear design will apparently allow ambient sounds to pass through.
The headphones are said to come with three different listening modes, plus support for 360-degree reality audio and spatial sound customization. Battery life is reportedly nine hours for the earbuds alone, with an additional 28 hours provided by the case.
According to Dealabs, they will be IPX4 rated for protection against splashes and sweat, and four colors are predicted: black, green, purple and cream. The launch price mentioned in the article is $229.99 (around £170 / AU$345).
